When the Vermont Fish & Wildlife Agency first discovered a terrified moose trapped on the railroad tracks, the outlook didn’t look good. Moose are powerful and heavy creatures. In situations like this, the animals can be as dangerous to themselves as their would-be rescuers. Fortunately, the agency wasn’t alone. With the help of the Springfield Fire Department and the railroad company, the Vermont Fish & Wildlife Agency could release the moose safely back into the wild.
