Kmart’s “Blue Light Sale” debuted in 1965. The blue sirens flashing in the middle of the stores informing about the discount item on a loudspeaker, “Attention Kmart Shoppers,” became associated with American shopping. However, the original concept of the sale was stopped in 1991. Nevertheless, Kmart tried to revive the idea repeatedly, injecting excitement into Kmart’s shopping experience and keeping their customers interested.
