Layka is a Belgian Malinois who worked as a U.S. military combat dog. She was shot four times point-blank during one mission, and her handler, Staff Sgt. Julian McDonald was determined to save her life. Thankfully Layka survived, but she lost one of her legs, so she retired. McDonald adopted her even though others said that Layka was too aggressive.
