A friendly neighborhood stray stole a couple’s hearts, but one day, she showed up with a tiny plus one.
A Stray Named Queso
When Courtney and her boyfriend, Jake, moved into their neighborhood, they quickly bonded with a stray tabby who loved tagging along on their walks. She soaked up every bit of attention, earning the name Queso, and soon, the couple began leaving out food and water for their new feline friend.
“We’ve seen her around since we moved in. She’s super friendly and will come up to anyone,” Courtney told Love Meow.
An Unexpected Arrival
Lately, Queso had been extra affectionate, spending more time on the couple’s porch. But one evening, when they returned home, she had company—a tiny kitten waddling behind her.
“It was definitely a surprise when she brought her kitten. She was just lying on our porch with the little one next to her,” Courtney shared.
Since they already had a cat named Ellie and Queso wasn’t keen on other felines, they set up a cozy space for the mother and kitten on their screened-in back porch.
A Twist in the Story
Queso basked in the attention but showed little interest in raising her kitten. Concerned, Courtney and Jake took the duo to the vet, where they learned the baby was underweight and needed extra care. The vet provided formula, and the couple began supplementing feedings.
As days passed, it became clear that Queso wasn’t planning to take on motherhood.
“I’ve been feeding and taking care of the kitten (now named Beans) around the clock for almost a week,” Courtney said.
